BJP leader Ranjit Singh, alias Titu, son of the veteran cooperator late Tapeshwar Singh, was unanimously elected Chairman of the National Film and Fine Arts Cooperatives Ltd. (NAFFAC) during an election held on Tuesday.
B. D. Bhookanth and Sanjay Jain were elected unopposed as the two Vice-Chairmen. The election took place at the Community Centre in South Delhi, with DM Mekala Chaitanya Prasad serving as the returning officer.
Ranjit Singh succeeds Ram Iqbal Singh, who, in addition to being the chairman of NAFFAC, is also the working chairman of Nacof. Titu is said to have a close affinity with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
It is interesting to note that since the duo of Vishal Singh and Ranjit Singh joined the BJP, they have gained prestigious positions in the cooperative sector. Vishal Singh, grandson of Tapeshwar Singh, is already the Chairman of NCCF, and now Ranjit Singh, his son, has been elected Chairman of NAFFAC. Tapeshwar Singh himself, as well as his son Ajit Singh, were staunch Congressmen.
In a conversation with this correspondent shortly after his election, Ranjit expressed his gratitude: “With the blessings of senior cooperative leaders—Dileep Sanghani, Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, Bijendra Singh, D. N. Thakur, and others—I have become the Chairman of NAFFAC. I am confident that, with the support of the other elected board members, we will meet their expectations and take the organization to new heights,” he said.
He emphasized the cooperative’s commitment to national development: “We are poised to contribute to the vision of our Prime Minister, ‘Sahakar Se Samriddhi,’ under the guidance of Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. There is a lot of scope and much work to be done in the film and fine art sector,” he noted.
The other nine elected directors are G. H. Amin, Dileep Sanghani, Chandrapal Singh Yadav, V. K. Dubey, Ram Iqbal Singh, Rajashekar Jain, Ms. Shanthala B., Ms. Arti Bisaria, and Rajeev Singh.
It is said that the outgoing chairperson of NAFFAC, Arti Bisaria, tried to seek seniors’ support for her candidacy but was unsuccessful. Disappointed, she did not participate in the election for Chairman and the two Vice-Chairmen of NAFFAC.
The National Film & Fine Arts Co-operative Limited (NAFFAC) was established in 1985 with the aim of popularizing cooperatives across the globe. NAFFAC has also produced several videos for various cooperative organizations as part of its mission to showcase their activities.
