Officials from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) arrested a cooperative society officer for taking a bribe from a farmer in Ambattur, media reports say.
The farmer, Krishnamoorthy, who has agricultural fields near Thirumazhisai, approached the Venkatapuram Cooperative Society for a loan.
Secretary Arumugam allegedly demanded Rs 40,000 to sanction the loan. Following Krishnamoorthy’s complaint to the Tiruvallur DVAC, Arumugam was arrested while accepting the bribe.
