Amit Shah has retained his earlier portfolios of Home and Cooperation, signaling a continuation of the reforms he initiated in his previous term. Under Shah’s leadership, the Ministry of Cooperation has launched over 54 new initiatives aimed at revolutionizing the cooperative movement in India.

Dileep Sanghani commented on Shah’s reappointment as Cooperation Minister, noting that this move underscores the Prime Minister’s confidence in the cooperative sector’s potential to contribute to the nation’s prosperity.

Congratulating Shah, NCUI President lauded his contributions to the co-op movement and said that the sector would see newer heights in his tenure.

Krishan Pal Gurjar has been appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Cooperation. Gurjar is a Member of Parliament elected from Faridabad, Haryana.

And, Murlidhar Mohol has also been appointed as Minister of State in the MoC. He is the first-time MP from Pune. Mohol is from the district’s Mulshi tehsil and is a graduate of Kolhapur University.

The first priority for Shah will be the finalization of the New National Cooperative Policy. The draft has been completed, but the announcement was delayed due to the pressures of the Lok Sabha elections.

Shah’s significant reforms in the cooperative sector include the revitalization of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), establishment of a new National Cooperation Policy and Database, enhancements in education and training, computerization initiatives, refunds to investors, and a comprehensive implementation strategy. Additionally, there are new banking amendments for the cooperative banking sector and relief measures for sugar cooperatives, among other changes.

Jagat Prakash Nadda has been appointed as the Minister of Health and Family Welfare and the Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers. Major cooperatives, such as IFFCO and Kribhco, play a significant role in the production of fertilizers in the country.

Several key ministers, including Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, S. Jaishankar, and Piyush Goyal, have retained their respective portfolios.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, has been appointed as the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and the Minister of Rural Development.
