NAFED-NCCF to empower tur farmers; Shah to launch pioneering portal
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In a significant stride towards empowering the pulse growing farmers, Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah is set to inaugurate a pioneering portal for the registration, purchase, and payment of tur-producing farmers across India in New Delhi today.

Additionally, Shah is also slated to deliver a keynote address at the national symposium organized to promote self-reliance in pulses.

At the core of this farmer-centric initiative is the goal to empower tur dal producers, ensuring they receive fair prices through an efficient procurement system, streamlined processes, and direct bank transfers facilitated by the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India (NCCF).

The overarching aim is to bolster domestic pulses production while concurrently diminishing reliance on imports. Under this initiative, the buffer stock of pulses will be procured from registered farmers on the NAFED and NCCF portals, with payments being made based on the guidelines set forth by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, and the higher of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) or market price.

The portal will consolidate the registration, procurement, and payment processes into a single, user-friendly platform. Farmers can register directly on the portal or opt for registration through Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO).

Importantly, NAFED will directly transfer payments into the farmers’ designated bank accounts, eliminating intermediary agencies from the transaction. The entire process is designed with a farmer-centric approach, allowing farmers to monitor their activities from registration to payment.

This initiative aligns seamlessly with the overarching “Atmanirbhar Bharat” campaign. The portal’s implementation will streamline processes for tur dal growers in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Jharkhand.

By simplifying registration, procurement, and payment processes, the portal aims to purchase 80% of the buffer stock directly from farmers, contributing not only to food production security but also ensuring the long-term food security of the nation. The multilingual electronic portal, accessible at https://esamridhi.in, will serve as a vital connection between farmers, NAFED, and relevant government departments, enhancing accessibility and efficiency.

The launch of the Tur Dal Procurement Portal signifies the government’s comprehensive vision for a new green revolution encompassing pulses and oilseeds alongside traditional crops like wheat and rice. This holistic approach is poised to benefit Indian agriculture and pave the way for a self-reliant future across all food categories for millions of farmers.
