National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories President Jaiprakash Dandegaonkar has called upon the Central govt not to stop the use of sugarcane juice and sugar syrup for ethanol production, as the move will seriously affect the sugar industry.
The president said due to this decision, India could fail to achieve the 20 per cent ethanol blending target by 2025, he said.
It is worth mentioning that the Union government recently banned the use of ‘sugarcane juice and sugar syrup’ for ethanol production in the 2023-24 supply year.
