The apex body of state cooperative banks-Nafscob held a series of events on Tuesday at Jaipur, Rajasthan, where many prominent people including the State Agriculture Minister Lalchand Kataria were in attendance including at the inaugural event.
In his remarks, Kataria laid emphasis on strengthening the rural credit structure and counted the initiatives taken by his government in strengthening the farmers as well as cooperative institutions.
Besides, he called for extending the limit of refinance given by Nabard from 40 percent to 60 percent in lieu of distribution of short-term crop loans.
Kataria informed the gathering that the state government is providing an interest free loan of Rs 1.50 lakh to the farmers of the state.
In her address, Principal Secretary Cooperation Shreya Guha said that the Rajasthan State Cooperative Bank has been making a continuous profit since its inspection and following strictly the rules and regulations of Nabard and Reserve Bank of India.
She said that the interest free crop loans worth Rs 22k crore are being made available to the farmers. With the aim of providing financial assistance for agricultural as well as non-agricultural work, under the leadership of Rajasthan Chief Minister an interest free loan of Rs 3000 crore is being provided by the CCBs under the Rajasthan Cooperative Rural Family Livelihood Scheme, Guha added.
Guha, who is also the administrator of the state cooperative bank, said that with an aim of increasing women’s participation in cooperatives, the government is establishing a women’s multi-purpose village service cooperative society in each block of the state.
Addressing the participants, Nafscob Chairman K Ravinder Rao focused on the short term rural credit cooperative structure and counted the efforts being laid by the Nafscob as a National Federation in addressing the issues of State Cooperative banks and DCCBs.
Rao also called upon the collective efforts from PACS and DCCBs for strengthening the rural credit cooperative structure.
On this occasion, Nafscob MD Bhima Subrahmanyam, Rajasthan Cooperative Registrar Meghraj Singh Ratnoo, Bhomaram, MD, Rajasthan State Cooperative Bank, representatives from State Cooperative Bank, DCCBs, PACS and others were present.
