Asia-Pacific Cooperative Youth Summit (APCYS 4.0) at Sabah, Malaysia was concluded with the address of Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi.
In his address, Hamidi said, “I had the honor of delivering a closing remark at the Asia Pacific Cooperative Youth Summit 4.0 in Kota Kinabalu this evening”.
“I strongly believe that youth participation in cooperatives can be a catalyst for their personal growth, leadership skills, and community engagement, while fostering sustainable and ethical business practices that benefit society at large”, he added.
He further said, “When youth engage in cooperatives, it generates a positive impact on the economy, the environment, and the overall well-being of communities.
During his speech, he outlined five compelling reasons for youths to pursue businesses through cooperatives which included Empowerment and Ownership, Skill Development, Entrepreneurial Experience, Community Engagement and Networking and Collaboration.
The four-day Youth Summit was hosted by ANGKASA, the national apex cooperative of Malaysia, and co-hosted by ICA-AP. It was inaugurated by Malaysia’s Co-operation Minister YB Datuk Ewon Benedick”.
Several young men from India including Manish Sanghani (Son of NCUI President Dileep Sanghani) and others took the part in the event with full gusto.
During the event, Manish Sanghani felicitated the cooperation minister with a memento.
Around 200 young representatives from 19 countries have participated in this Summit. The first APCYS was held in 2016 in Indonesia.
The APCYS 4.0 acknowledged and encouraged the role of youth in furthering sustainable lifestyles for a greener planet. It provided a platform for youth to come together and heard about inspiring youth-led sustainable practices and ventures, experience hands-on cooperative activities, shared cooperative business ideas, and enjoyed the spirit of different cultures and youth cooperativism.
