PM confirms his participation in Co-operative Congress: Sanghani

The big news is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed his participation in the 17th Indian Cooperative Congress, which tentatively is to kick off on 1st July 2023 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi.

Confirming the news, NCUI President Dileepbhai Sanghani said, “Yes, it is true that Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed his participation to attend the 17th Indian Cooperative Congress. We are ready to welcome him with great zeal and enthusiasm”.

As soon as the PM confirmed his participation, the entire cooperative scene got charged up. “We have started the preparations and we will not leave any stone unturned to welcome him”, underlined the NCUI President.

Besides the national level cooperators, the event is going to see participation of co-operators from across the globe including that from International Cooperation Alliance-Asia Pacific and G20 countries.

The Congress will review the progress of the cooperative sector and come up with effective policy-guidelines in the wake of the emergent problems before the sector.

The theme of the Congress is ‘Amrit Kaal-Prosperity through Cooperation for a Vibrant India”. The Congress is likely to be attended by more than 2000 delegates from across the country and abroad.

Meanwhile one of the top officials of NCUI said without wishing to be named, “Close to half a dozen ministers’ participation is likely to cause a scramble for seats on the dais. The who’s who of the co-operative world may not get seats in the front row as prime minister Modi and his Ministers are likely to occupy much of the space on the stage, said a cooperator.

The majority of co-ops invited are National Level Cooperative Federation, Multi state co-operatives, State & Dist. Level cooperative union/federation, Primary Cooperative Societies. Besides, NCUI will launch a website for cooperators to register themselves. It will be a one of a kind event.

The apex body of cooperatives-NCUI has been organizing Indian Cooperative Congress for the past many years at the interval of four years and the last Congress was held in the presence of former President of India late Pranab Mukherjee in 2013. There was no show in between due to Covid.
