The fertilizer Cooperative IFFCO sold 22,52,550 bottles of 500 ml Nano urea in the state of Madhya Pradesh in 2022-23 FY (unto 21.03.2023), informed Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Bhagwanth Kuba in a written reply to a query raised by a Rajya Sabha member.

He further added, “Based on the preliminary experimental trials undertaken in several ICAR research institutes /State Agricultural Universities, Government of India has notified the specifications of Nano nitrogen under Fertilizer Control Order, 1985”.

“Nano-urea spray on different crops gave comparable yields to those obtained under fully recommended doses of fertilizers with 50% savings in top dressed urea. Further, preliminary field trials for Nano DAP were conducted by Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) and Coromandel International Limited (CIL) on selected crops in selected ICAR Institutes” his reply reads.

The report has indicated that with the use of Nano DAP as seed treatment and foliar application, there is a possibility of saving of granular DAP conventionally applied. DA&FW has notified M/s IFFCO and CIL respectively to manufacture the Nano DAP for a period of three years, his reply concludes.
