Union Minister of State for Agriculture Ms Shobha Karandlaje appreciated the efforts of agri cooperative Nafed for helping the onion farmers and stabilizing prices.
Lauding the efforts, She tweeted, “NAFED steps up to support onion farmers and bring stability to the market. The red onion procurement drive will alleviate farmers’ distress and stabilise prices”.
“Onion procurement centres, digital payment options, and price stabilisation funds will further empower onion farmers and tackle price volatility”, she added.
It is to be noted that 4000 MT Red Onion (Kharif) procured by Nafed at above Rs 900 quintal between 24th Feb 2023 to 5th March 2023. Forty procurement centres have been opened and a price stabilization fund setup for procurement & storage.
