A follow up meeting regarding ‘Strategy to increase the reach, range & depth of periodic publications brought out by Cooperative Federation’ was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Gyanesh Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation at Ministry’s headquarters Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi.

The meeting, which lasted more than two hours, was organized at the Chamber of Secretary, particularly designed for the MD/CEs and PROs/In-charge of Social media & Publications of the National Cooperative Federations.

IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi, National Federation of Co-operative Sugar Factories MD Prakash Naiknavare, NCUI Deputy CE Savitri Singh, Nafed Additional MD Sunil Kumar Singh, Kribhco Marketing Director V.S.R. Prasad, NCDFI MD Kishore Supekar, NLCF MD-in Charge V K Chauhan and the representatives from Nafcub, NCHF, others National level cooperative federations attended the meeting.

Besides, Amit Shah’s OSD in the Cooperation Department Dr K K Tripathy was also present on this occasion.

Soon after the meeting one of the participants talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent said, “During the meeting it was decided to increase the outreach of respective co-ops on various social media platforms with an objective to deepen their reach up to the grassroots level”.

The Ministry of Cooperation also asked the participants to start the circulation of publications and newsletters and other means of communication in different languages to increase awareness about the related cooperative societies.

Soon after the meeting, the social media handle of NAFCUB wrote, “We participated in today’s meeting called by the Ministry of Cooperation Sh. Gyanesh Kumar (Secretary,Moc). The agenda of the meeting was to outreach to the grassroots levels through social media and publications in vernacular languages.

It is worth mentioning that taking this as a clarion call, National Level cooperative federations are actively making their accounts on social media platforms including twitter, Facebook etc. but there are a few yet to show their presence on them.

Earlier, the Ministry penned letters to national co-op federations asking them to increase their media presence. As a result, a few of the federations including Nafcub joined platforms like Twitter and Facebook and began to post co-op stories.

The Ministry is of the view that the Amit Shah led department is planning many new things for the co-ops but the last mile delivery of the schemes to the beneficiaries is not possible without an aggressive media campaign. The Ministry’s goal of co-op development is dependent on unhindered flow of information, say Ministry officials.
