As on 30th November 2022, the count of Aadhaar numbers on National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) mapper was Rs 75.43 crore out of which 2.45 crore Aadhaar number were seeded by cooperative banks to enable department to push Direct Benefit Transfer through Aadhaar Payments Bridge (APB), said Union Minister of State for finance Bhagwat Karad in a written reply.
He further added, “For all Central/State government welfare schemes, DBT can be routed to all the 988 cooperative banks enabled in APBs provided that Aadhaar is seeded by the account holders of cooperative banks in NPCI mapper”.
“As apprised by RBI, 1,098 banks are enabled to process Aadhaar Payment Bridge (APB) system under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) out of which 988 banks are from the cooperative sector”, Karad informed.
