Education & training arm of NCUI, NCCE recently organized a 3-day Leadership Development Program for women-led cooperative organizations, wherein women co-op leaders from across states including participants from Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra & Karnataka were present.

It is worth mentioning that the participants were not just big coop enterprises like multi state societies but also budding SHGs. During this successful LDP, NCCE organized a series of valuable real-time applicable strategies for project planning, meeting legal obligations including roles & responsibilities and procedure to register and on-board members, capacity building, microfinancing, accounting management, processing & marketing, government schemes promoting women empowerment, and the significance of honing communication skills to speak for their coop enterprises in a competitive world & attract more proactive members etc.

NCUI’s Deputy Chief Executive Savitri Singh in her session addressed the major challenges faced by women coops and how to implement the right strategies to manage such challenges in their professional life.

NCUI’s Advisor, Dr VK Dubey, took two exhaustive sessions on types of members, procedure for admission, termination & suspension of members in a woman cooperative, roles & responsibilities of the chairpersons & board of directors, rules & regulations for supporting women, etc.

Trainer Manju Arora conducted the crucial session on microfinance management for women SHGs, which was much appreciated by the participants in their feedback reports.

NCDC’s Advisor SK Tucker in his elaborative presentation spoke about the schemes by NCDC to promote women empowerment and women led coops. A know-all session for women coop leaders on financial management & accounting was conducted by NCUI’s Assistant Director Anurag Dang, informs a press release.

NCUI’s Editorial & Communication Associate Anuradha conducted an interactive session on communication skills for women entrepreneurs – essential to both attract new members & customers and also for members’ & customers’ retention; and how verbal/non-verbal; formal & informal, spoken & written skill sets can help boost their enterprising skills.

“Speak for yourself & coop members’ by all means of communications – print & digital publications, & why use social media” – were a few focal points of this session at NCCE for women co-op heads.

The class discussions involved brief training sessions on written plus spoken communication skills, wherein women leaders kept their language barriers at bay and shared their experiences with others, as a collective force with problem-resolving attitude women coop leaders even imparted practical suggestions to a new SHG head (from Chhattisgarh) on how to retain its members and execute an effective business plan!

A study visit to a couple of successful co-ops, such as Bhai Mati Dass Cooperative Urban Thrift & Credit Society Ltd., Mehrauli (New Delhi), to know their operations was a major highlight of this special 3-day LDP for emerging women coop leaders.

The valedictory function of this 3-days’ LDP for women coop leaders was held on 30 November, 2022. NCUI’s Deputy Chief Executive Savitri Singh distributed certificates of participation to all women coop leaders.
