The Organizing Secretary of Sahakar Bharati Sanjay Pachpor is touring remote areas of the country these days in a bid to strengthen the cooperative movement. Soon after his visit to J&K and Punjab, Pachpor was in the remote areas of Nagaland interacting with youth and women in a bid to ignite the co-op movement in the north east.
A day earlier, the duo of Sanjay Pachpor and Sahakar Bharati National General Secretary Dr Uday Joshi was in Assam meeting people and discussing ways on how to form cooperative societies in a hassle-free manner.
An RSS Pracharak assigned to chaperon Sahakar Bharati, Sanjay Pachpor attended a meeting in Dhansiripar village in Chomokedima district of Nagaland in which women representatives of more than 25 self-help groups participated.
It was discussed and suggested that focus should be given to animal husbandry, food processing, allied agriculture, handloom and indigenous crafts and piggery in Nagaland. Later Pachpor visited Dubgaon, where a large number of women along with youth discussed various issues an opportunity for livelihood projects through cooperatives and self-help groups.
On the second day, 38 workers from nine districts attended a meeting organized by the Nagaland unit in the state capital Kohima. Besides the Sahakar Bharati members, officers from the cooperative sector, the agriculture sector and youth also participated in the meeting.
It was discussed during the meeting that there are more than 8000 cooperative societies registered in the state but less than 1% are working actively. Underlining the sorry state of affairs, the officials vowed to work out a road map for their revival.
It was also decided that along with the formation of new cooperatives, the dormant cooperatives would be revived. It was suggested that focus should be given to co-operatives which are compatible with the local economy.
In the recent past Sahakar Bharati has also worked hard to expand its footprints. In Kohima the team decided to help form cooperative societies as well as district units in all the 16 districts of the state.
A day earlier, Sahakar Bharati Assam organised a workshop on “Formation of Cooperative Society ” at Shilpa Gram’s Auditorium hall in Guwahati. A total of 140 executives from 31 districts took part in the workshop. The Program was held for two days on 15th and 16th October in the presence of Sanjay Pachpor, National Organising Secretary and National Secretary, Dr Uday Joshi.
Earlier, Pachpor was in Punjab visiting Ludhiana and Pathankot stressing the theme of focus towards village. He also exhorted people to develop at least 10 PACS as model PACS in each district of Punjab.
