National Federation of Tourism & Transport Cooperatives of India (NFTC) is embroiled in controversy as five of its elected directors have sent their resignation letters to the federation’s Managing Director.

The five directors who have submitted their resignation letters include T G Sajeev, K G Vinod, Biju P.M, and Raveendran MR and others. It is learned that the societies they represent on the board of NFTC, have not even been registered.

When Indian Cooperative contacted to verify whether their societies are registered or not, one of the senior officials of the Registrar office of Cooperative Societies in Pune said, “The societies belonging to T G Sajeev, Biju P.M, K G Vinod, and Raveendran MR are not registered under the state cooperative Act”.

The copies of their resignation letters are with Indian Cooperative but there is no confirmation whether they have been accepted or not.

Interestingly, these directors resided in Thrissur, Kerala but showed their societies registered in Pune. They had sent their resignation letters a day prior to when the Central Registrar appointed Arbitrator Shamsher Singh to settle an election dispute.

The two hearings on the matter are already held and the next is scheduled for 9th August 2022. Meanwhile, sources claimed that for winning the elections of the NFTC, the Present Chairman VVVP Nair made members in an illegal manner in connivance with the former Managing Director Sanjay Sinha.

But, as soon as Sinha was ousted from the federation, he accused VVP Nair and Ram Naresh Thakur (Present MD) of fraudulently accepting 48 State Co-operative Societies to nominate their delegates for the NFTC elections.

Indian Cooperative has copies of their resignation letters and we are reproducing them for the readers’ perusal. The reasons behind the resignation of the five directors are more or less the same.

“Recently I came to know that a new office of NFTC is now opened at Ernakulam, in Kerala. As a member of the Board, I assume that before making such a decision at least that has to be conveyed to me as a member who is hailing from Kerala itself, and to my utter dismay, I came to know that deposits at an interest rate of 12% are now being collected from people”, the resignation letter of T G Sajeev reads.

It further reads, “I have decided to resign from the post purely on the intention that, there must be transparency and diplomacy between the members in decision making, failure of the same will result in conflict between the members. Referring to the above facts, I would like to resign from the post of “Director Board Member” of NFTC specifically on the 14′ day of June 2022″.

“My decision to resign from the post as a Direct Board Member from the National Federation of Tourism & Transport Co- operatives of India Ltd is purely personal and no person/ institution has influenced me for the same. This email/letter may be considered as my formal communication of Resignation”, his letter concludes.

Readers would recall that in a strange move, NFTC recently released an advertisement for the vacancy on the posts of General Managers, Managers, Assistant Managers and Field Executives and the total vacancies for these posts were 51,596. One of the directors, Jalaj said, without taking the board members’ approval, VVVP Nair and his team arbitrarily announced vacancies.
