The Agri cooperative Nafed has signed an MoU with Salt Range Foods for setting up of Honey Processing Plant Laboratory and Cold Storage in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh.
It will be established under National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM). Soon after the signing of the MoU between the organizations in the presence of senior officials, the official Twitter handle of Nafed shared the news.
NAFED is creating 65 clusters and Farmers Producers Organisations (FPOs) of beekeepers/ Honey Processors. These 65 FPOs will be part of the honey corridor linking northwest to north-eastern regions.
It is aiming at bringing all these 65 FPOs associated with honey production for creating requisite infrastructure under the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission, said one of the top officials of Nafed.
The National Beekeeping and Honey Mission was announced by the Union Government as part of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat package in 2020. The scheme is implemented by the National Bee Board (NBB) and is approved for three years from 2020 to 2023.
Incidentally, Morena is the parliamentary constituency of Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
