NDDB, GCMMF and milk unions of Gujarat will work together to increase a ‘reference population’ of dairy cattle for genomic selection and extend benefits of improved genetics to Gujarat farmers, reports Free Press Journal.
The organizations said after signing an MoU, an increase in the size of reference population is crucial to improved genetics. NDDB has been working towards implementation of a new technology genomic selection since 2014.
GCMMF Managing Director R S Sodhi is quoted saying Amul along with milk unions of Gujarat will play an important role in genomic selection.
