Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of the Cooperative Development Forum, the former NCUI President said that a body like CDF would go a long way in resolving administrative and legal issues plaguing the co-operative sector.

A member of the Governing Council of the new body, Chandra Pal hoped the languishing 97th CAA would receive the required focus and would be implemented across states.

“If only the 97th CAA is implemented, the majority of issues for the co-op sector would vanish,” stressed Yadav. The 97th CAA envisions uniform co-op laws across states. It also talks of neutral election authority to conduct co-op elections.

Apprehensive of the upcoming amendment process in multi-state co-op act 2002, Chandra Pal said the concerns of the cooperative sector could be voiced better through CDF now. He cited the case of the recently amended BR Act and said CDF could dispel doubts from the minds of co-operators.

It bears recall that Parshottam Rupala, Union State Minister formally inaugurated the ‘Cooperative Development Forum’ at a simple event at the NCUI headquarters in Delhi on Monday. Leaders like Suresh Prabhu, Satish Marathe, Dr U S Awasthi, Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav, Dr Uday Joshi and others were present on the occasion.
