Agri co-operative Nafed has decided to set up 20 farmer producer organizations in each district of Jammu and Kashmir in the coming three months. Nafed also plans to set up a network of cold storage at a cost of Rs 500 crore.

The decision was taken in an official meeting attended by the MD Nafed Sanjeev Chadha, and SAjaz Ahmad Bhat Director Horticulture Jammu and Kashmir, among others.

The MD Nafed revealed that a memorandum of understanding has been signed with the state govt for high density plantation of apple, walnut, cherry and other horticultural produce.

The Director of Mr Bhat said Nafed will spend Rs 17,000 crore for horticultural development in the state in the next five years. The director added that this will provide marketing platforms to the growers of the Union Territory.
