Karnataka Chapter of Sahakar Bharati candidates have swept the election of Mangalore based Chocolate Cooperative namely Campco. Out of 16 unanimously elected directors from Karnataka and Kerala, majority of them belong to Sahakar Bharati.

The Campco election was held on Monday and all the 16 directors have been elected unopposed. It is learnt that 48 nominations were filed and some of them had filed more than one set of papers.

During the Scrutiny 20 nomination papers were found valid and on the day of withdrawal four candidates withdrew the nomination papers and thus the whole election was unopposed.

Besides, the outgoing President and Sahakar Bharati Karnataka Chapter President S R Satishchandra and the outgoing Vice-President Shankaranarayana Bhat have been re-elected unopposed as the directors on the board. The election of Chairman and Vice-Chairman will be held on 13th December 2020 during the special general body meeting.

Interestingly, former President and a well-known face in the cooperative circles Konkodi Padmanabha did not file his nomination papers this time. Deputy Registrar Praveen B. Nayak had been appointed as the Returning officer to oversee the election process.

As the area of operations of Campco is in two states, 8-8 directors from each state Karnataka and Kerala have been elected. Out of 16 directors, seven are newcomers and the rest are from the outgoing board.

Soon after the election, talking to Indian Cooperative the outgoing President S R Satishchandra said, “Once again the supporters of Sahakar Bharati have captured the top management. The directors election was unopposed and the election of President and Vice-President will be held on 13th December 2020. The board term is five year”.

“Our future goals are to open 10 to 12 branches and set up pepper processing units at Puttur city in Dakshina Kannada district”, said Satishchandra whose re-nomination as the President is being talked in the cooperative circles.

“In the financial year 2019-2020, Campco posted a turnover of Rs 1848 crore and aimed to achieve the target of Rs 2k crore in the current financial year”, said Satishchandra on the phone to Indian Cooperative.

The elected directors from Karnataka include Dayananda Hegde, Kishore Kumar Kodgi, Krishna Prasad Madthila, M Mahesh Chowta, Raghavendra Bhat, S R Satishchandra, Raghavendra H M, Shambhulinga Ganapati.

The elected directors from Kerala are Jayaprakash Narayana, Jayarama Saralaya, K Balakrishna Rai, Radhakrishnan K, Sathyanaryana Prasad, Suresh Kumar Shetty, Padmaraj Pattaje, Shankaranarayana Bhat.
