Ministers side with NCUI on exclusion of Nafub from voter list

Sources say the issue of Nafcub exclusion from the constituency of Highest Contributors of Co-op Education Fund was raised before the Ministers- Narendra Singh Tomar and Parshottam Rupala when a few top co-operators went to meet them.

The meeting had been called at the behest of the ministers who wanted to ensure a smooth election at the apex co-op body in the country NCUI. Earlier, Nafcub had petitioned before the Central Registrar seeking inclusion of Nafcub in the voter list.

Sources said the Ministers agreed to the NCUI stand in the matter. It bears recall that some of the NCUI leaders had argued that anybody contributing Rs 10 lakh cannot automatically get a seat on the Governing Council.

Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar is believed to have said that Nafcub does not qualify as the contribution has to come from the profit as stipulated in the MSCS Act. Tomar also said that Nafcub needed to give its book of accounts to show that the donation came from the profit.

This perhaps will end the controversy created unnecessarily over the issue, said NCUI leaders reacting to the Minister’s comment. Luckily, even National General Secretary of Sahakar Bharati, Uday Joshi was present in the meeting and he must have noted the Minister’s take on the matter, they felt.

Earlier, Joshi who is on the Board of NAFCUB maintained that Nafcub made a payment of Rs 10 lac to NCUI on time and yet it was denied a place in the voter list. Joshi had even camped in the town along with Satish Marathe, the senior Sahakar Bharati leader to sort out the problem.

While this is a fact that NCUI received Rs 10 lakh from NAFCUB through RTGS but there was no accompanying note to explain what this is for. How can Chief Executive or RO understand the purpose of this transfer of fund especially when Nafcub has never ever contributed this kind of amount to NCUI in the past”, NCUI leaders had asked.

They also wondered how Nafub managed this Fund despite being in loss. Nafcub sources said that the money came from the surplus maintained by Nafcub and it was absolutely in line with the law.

However, meeting with the Minister seems to have scorched the controversy once and for all. Now the entry of National Cooperative Dairy Federation in NCUI’s Governing Council will happen smoothly. The final list in this category has names of Dileep Sanaghani from IFFCO, Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav from Kribhco, Bijender Singh from Nafed and Mangal Jit Rai from National Cooperative Dairy Federations of India.
