The All India character of the IFFCO came to the fore when several delegates from across the states raised many issues before the AGM. Seen as one of the longest AGMs lasting till the second half of the day, the IT team of the co-op titan had hard times accommodating each of the speakers.
Counting physical and digital presence more than 95 % participation was noted by the IFFCO team in the AGM. “They all sat without taking any break for 3 and a half hours”, said the IFFCO MD with a sense of satisfaction.
Delegates after delegates lauded the IFFCO management and especially its MD Dr U S Awasthi for unprecedented performance in the Covid times. They wondered how IFFCO could beat all past records in production as well as in profit despite odds.
Delegates who feared that Covid may eat away a part of their dividends this year were overwhelmed by a 20% dividend announced by IFFCO. It is the 19th consecutive year that we are getting 20 %, said a delegate proudly.
Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh was one of the star speakers. He said it’s a matter of pride for the cooperative sector that it has a representative in IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi who figures in the list of top 50 persons out of 129 crore Indians. Sunil was referring to Forbes list of influential Indians.
Sunil also exhorted the IFFCO management to launch Nano from Bihar as it’s a land where Mahatma Gandhi started his Satyagraha.
Dipakbhai Malani from Gujarat, while lauding the IFFCO management urged simplification of the Kisan Sankat Haran Bima in terms of language. Another delegate Arvind Kangaria complained that the IFFCO e-bazar is competing with local co-operatives.
Though there were delegates from practically all the states, representation from the North-East was impressive. Some of the prominent speakers included Shish Pal Singh, Vijay Shankar Rai, Sunil Kumar Khatri, Rishi Raj Sisodia, Shantimoy Dey, Parmanand Tripathy and others.
Later talking to Indian Cooperative IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi said “we encourage delegates to speak freely so that we get the correct picture; we are going to introduce regional languages in the Bima as pointed out by one of the delegates”.
Awasthi also thanked his team for organizing such a neat and clean AGM. “It was unprecedented in terms of organization”, he said congratulating the inhouse team for the same.
