RBI’s Employees Association has hailed the government’s decision to bring all cooperative banks under RBI supervision. The association has also called for on-site inspection of these banks rather than off-site surveillance, says a news outlet.
At present, there is dual control over UCBs by the RBI and the state where they are registered.
The govt. of India will soon promulgate an ordinance to this effect.
