Department of Co-operative Management of Rajiv Gandhi Arts and Science College, Puducherry recently organized an online quiz program called ‘National Level Online Quiz on Co-op 2020’ in collaboration with National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) and the Centre for Studies in Rural Management (CSRM) of Gujarat Vidyapith-Randheja Campus.
The primary aim of this online quiz was to engage students’ community, cooperative officials, research scholars and faculty members of co-operative studies with the subject of cooperatives, the growth of the cooperative movement and other allied subjects. The online quiz program which began from 14th May,2020 ended on 31.05.2020.
A total of 2702 participants from 21 states participated in this National Level online quiz on competition on cooperatives, in which, the categories of participants were 1.6 % of Professors, 3.1 % of Associate Professors, 23 % of Assistant Professors, 4.3 % Research Scholars, 15.4 % of P.G Students, 36.4 % of U.G students, 3.2 % of Cooperative Officials, 1.9 % of Cooperative Personnel and 11 % of others.
A total of 1902 U.G and P.G students participated in the online quiz competition. It was found that 46 % (1243 Nos.) of the participants were not aware of the Multi Cooperative Societies Act, 43.5% of the participants (1177 Nos.) were not having basic knowledge about the constitutional aspects of byelaws of a cooperative society, and 37.8 % of the participants were not aware of basic operation of the weaver’s cooperative societies which indicates that they have to improve their knowledge of cooperatives.
The participants in the quiz competition were from varied disciplines like General Management, Economics, Commerce, Rural Management, Rural Development, etc. 52 % of the participants were highly satisfied, and it is interesting to note that 76.5% of respondents showed their willingness to have similar online competitions in order to enrich their academic knowledge and career prospects.
While considering the overall rating given by the participants, it can be described that the online quiz has helped them improve their knowledge and learn about the practices and progress of the cooperative sector in India.
The official Google form was used for this free online quiz competition. Both English and Hindi mediums were used for this competition. Those who scored 40 % marks got e-certificates.
