Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani called upon the Chairman of Gujarat Marketing Cooperative- Gujcomasol Dileep Sanghani to take stock of the preparations made for procuring the gram and mustard seeds from beginning this month. The meeting was held on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani shared the news through social media. He said, “The meeting was held in connection with the commencement of procurement of chickpeas and mustard from May 1”.
“In this meeting Gujcomasol Chairman Dilipbhai Sanghani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel, Minister R. C. Faldu, Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Minister Jayeshbhai Radadia, Minister Pradipsinh Jadeja, Minister Ishwarsinh Patel were connected through video conferencing”, he further wrote.
Soon after the meeting with the CM, sharing the details with Indian Cooperative correspondent, Sanghani said, “In our meeting with the Chief Minister of Gujarat we have informed him about the preparations we have made for procuring gram and mustard from the farmers’ ‘.
“Gujcomasol has set up 136 centers for procurement across the state. He said over 1.70 lakh farmers have registered with the agri cooperative Nafed and Nafed has appointed us as the state level agency for running procurement work”, he added while sharing the details.
Sanghani further added that, “The move has been taken to give relief to the farmers who have not been able to sell their produce as APMC in the state. The procurement will be done at MSP but under price stabilization fund (PSF)”, he underlined.
Once registered, the farmers will be informed through an SMS about the time and date allotted to them for procurement at the designated procurement center, said Sanghani.
The government had planned to start the procurement from March, but due to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown it was delayed.
The central government has fixed Rs 4,875 per quintal as the MSP for gram and Rs 4,425 per quintal for mustard seed.
