The contribution made by Gujarat based Mehsana Urban Cooperative Bank has won the praise of Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel as helping the government fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Patel wrote on his Facebook wall, “To help the state government in an effort to prevent the transmission of Coronavirus, Mehsana Urban Cooperative Bank has contributed to the CM relief fund”.
Mehsana Urban Cooperative Bank handed over the cheque of Rs 58 Lakh 50 thousand towards the CM Relief Fund on Tuesday.
The bank Chairman Ganpatbhai Patel, CEO Vinod Kumar and others were present during the cheque giving ceremony”.
Sharing the news with India Cooperative, the bank CEO Vinod Kumar said, “Our bank as well as staff have contributed towards the CM Relief fund. The cheque of Rs 58 lakh 50 thousand was handed over to Nitin Patel, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat”.
He added that, ” The bank is also planning to contribute Rs 51 lakh towards the PM Cares fund and it will be decided in a couple of days. Besides, the bank is also active in distributing the packets containing essential items to the senior citizens as well as the needy across the Mehsana District. The packets distributed were worth of Rs 10 lakh”, he said.
Meanwhile, the bank organized its board meeting and passed a resolution for providing a three-month moratorium to the borrowers. The bank will upload the form where a borrower can fill the form to avail the benefits online, Kumar informed.

It is to be noted that Urban Cooperative Banks spread across the country are coming forward to help the needy in the current situation.
Mehsana Urban Cooperative Bank was established on 23rd October 1983. As on 31st March 2019, the bank had a deposit base of Rs 5359 crore and advances of Rs 3667 crore. The Bank earned a net profit of Rs 67.03 crore in the last FY i.e. 2018-19.
