The New Indian Express reports chairperson of the Thanjavur District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Gandhi, will fight the assembly by poll from the Thanjavur constituency as AIADMK’s candidate.
Originally hailing from Tirumangalakkottai Melaiyur near Orathanadu, Gandhi now lives in Thanjavur. Gandhi has been associated with AIADMK since his student days.
Sources say he enjoys proximity to top AIADMK leaders and his prospects of winning the by-poll are rated high.
He was the chairman of the Aavin from June 21, 2013 to June 20, 2018. Tiruvarur Assembly by-poll, is being held as the seat fell vacant after M Karunanidhi”s death.
