The cooperative world is stunned by the sad demise of former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Cutting across ideological lines, cooperative leaders have paid rich tributes to the departed leader.
Sahakar Bharati Chief Jyotindra Mehta was one of the firsts to express his profound grief. Mehta posted more than a dozen posts on Vajpayee remembering his greatness. He also posted a newspaper article on social media in which it was said that five economic decisions that Vajpayee took, propelled India to the path of growth and prosperity.
Mehta also shared a throwback photo on social media of his meeting with the former PM in a function organized by Rajkot based Vijay Cooperative Bank. He wrote, “Cooperative is India’s culture which comes true with relentless efforts by its supporters. Late Atalji participated in the program organized by Rajkot based Vijay Cooperative Bank.

NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav said, “Huge loss to the nation. Former Prime Minister AtalBihariVajpayee ji’s contributions to our nation have been innumerable. May his soul rest in peace!”
IFFCO Managing Director Dr U S Awasthi wrote “Deeply saddened & shocked by the demise of our former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Shri #AtalBihariVaajpayee ji. Huge loss to the nation as we 
have lost one of the greatest political leader, good human being, statesman & an intellectual. May god rest his soul in peace! Om Shanti”.
NAFED Vice Chairman and NAFSCOB Chairman Dileep Sanghani shared photographs on the former PM. In his meesage he wrote, “Whose name is ‘Atal’, a person with a gentle and poetic heart, always eager to listen to the voice of the downtrodden, who offered his
whole life in the service of the country. You will always be in the heart of this country”, he said in Hindi which Indian Cooperative has translated in English for the benefit of visitors.
Punjab State Cooperative Bank also condoles the death of the former PM and writes on its facebook wall , “A poet. A visionary, A statesman. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime 
Minister of India, is no more. His contribution towards the advancement of Indian society will inspire generations to follow. Team PSCB mourns the passing away of a legend.
Besides, several cooperative organizations posted Vajpayee photographs along with the logo of their cooperatives, expressive words of appreciation for a man respected across political spectrum. Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Singh also tagged Vajpee’s photo with the poster of Biscomaun on his FB wall.
