Kerala cooperative minister Kadakampally Surendran recently announced that the state government would set up a cooperative for the transgender community, reports Times of India.
This would be called Trans Welfare Cooperative Society. The minister said the goal of the cooperative society would be to provide the transgender community with financial help.
The minister made this announcement when he was addressing the transgender community at Cooperative Bank Towers in Thiruvanthapuram. The cooperative society will start functioning mid-July.
