Over two thousand deposit mobilizing centers aka PACS will be set up in West Bengal to provide un-banked panchayats with banking services, media reports assert.
The network of PACS will be established as customer service points as par the recommendation of the state level monitoring committee for the cooperative sector.
The work has already been begun in respect of 1,133 PACS and the entire work will be completed in a couple of years. District and state cooperative banks will open their branches in the unbanked areas as well.
