National Cooperative Union of India has finally removed the tainted Secretary of NCCT Mr Paramjyoti, against whom the voice of complaint was getting louder every day. Paramjyoti is no more secretary of NCCT, informed the Chief Executive of NCUI , Dr Dinesh Mishra to Indiancooperative.com.
Readers may recall that Prime Minister Office (PMO) has asked explanation from Agricultural Ministry under which the NCUI functions. The matter relates to the appointment of 40 lecturers by NCCT for their training units located in different parts of the country. There are allegations of unfair means and money-transfer in the recruitment process. Mr Paramjyoti was at the centre of storm.
NCUI has also asked former Chief Executive Mrs Anita Manchanda to explain fudging of dates in delivering letter. On March 14th, Ministry has asked NCUI to stop the process of issuing appointment letters. But the process was continued with back dated signatures, sources add.
The entire drama lasted for more than six months and also saw worsening of relationship between the Ministry and apex body of cooperative movement in the country.
Ministry has issued some directions to NCUI such as
1 Remove the Secretary of NCCT.
2 Cancel the appointment thereby making the given appointment letters null and void.
3 Explanations be sought from Mrs Anita Manchanda, the then Chief Executive who was in the Committee and who had the overall responsibility of fair selection
Ministry had even stopped funding the Organization leading to great inconvenience to staff.
Two of the demands have been met. But Chief Executive Dinesh Mishra failed to explain whether the appointments have been declared null or void or not. Many also feel that Paramjyoti has been let off easy.
