He spoke a language spoken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier underlining the fact that the two belong to the same flock- a family of Pracharaks. The words chosen by RSS Sarsangh Chalak Shri Mohan Bhagwat on co-operatives, spoken in a function of NCDC-Sahakar Bharati on Wednesday in Gurugram, may be different but the message was same– break free from the claptrap of co-op structure and instead dedicate yourself to the cooperative movement with feeling and passion.

“And you have to do so without allowing a feeling of greatness to get the better of you; the job of a true cooperator is to help the needy stand on his own and with self-confidence”, Shri Bhagwat said to hundreds of Sahakar Bharati workers who had assembled to hear him.

The occasion was renaming a NCDC training centre as Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Co-operative Research and Development and converting it into a world class institution —to remember Laxman Rao Inamdar-the founder of Sahakar Bharati on the occasion of celebrations in his centenary year.

Sarsanghachalak thanked Sahakar Bharati for giving him an opportunity to speak on Inamdar with whom he had the chance to work as Prant Pracharak when Inamdar himself wasKshetra Pracharak. “The assignment with Sangh kept me away from paying my heartfelt tributes to him and I am thankful to you for this”, were his words.

“I knew him closely and knew what a giant of a man was he; Had he been alive he would never permit us to celebrate his achievements as he shunned publicity and never ever made even the smallest efforts to seek limelight”, said Shri Bhagwat. I continue to be amazed and impacted by the ideals of his life till date, said Bhagwat.

Referring to the book on Inamdar published by NCUI and authored by Santosh Kumar Sharma, Bhagwat said the title “Inamdar-Sahakarbhav ke praneta (one who gives rise to spirit of cooperation) sums up the man who did things with empathy aimed at making people self-reliant. It was obvious that the idea of co-operative would attract Inamdarji as he had a sense of natural bonding (atmiyata) with people.

Himself a gifted orator with the ability to connect to audience Sarsanghchalak Shri Bhagwat said about Inamdar “a good looking man with excellent manners Inamdarji’s whole being used to radiate the luminosity of his inner purity”, he put it brilliantly in chaste Hindi hard to translate.

Congratulating both NCDC and Sahakar Bharati for conceiving the idea of Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Co-operative Research and Development at Gurugram Shri Bhagwat said the take-off time has arrived and all you have to do is infuse the cooperative spirit of Inamdar in your activities to achieve results.

Before Bhagwat, many speakers including Sahakar Bharati President Jyotindra Mehta, Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar spoke, among others. And besides Parshottam Rupala, there were cooperative ministers of several states including Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh & J & K and Manipur present in the meeting.

Those present in the audience included IFFCO MD Dr US Awasthi, Nabard former Chairman Dr K G Karmakar, NCUI Chief Executive N Satyanarayan and several prominent cooperators who had come from various parts of the country.

Welcoming the guests Jyotindra Mehta said with the setting up of a premier institute in the name of Sahakar Bharati Founder the responsibilities of each of us has increased many-fold. Labor is the capital of cooperative and with NCDC ready to supply fund, we are sure to grow in times to come, Mehta underlined. “Long back Inamdarji saw co-operative as a possible tool of filling up the gaps between haves and have-nots and the time has come to fulfill his dream, he added.

Speaking on the occasion Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh lauded the role being played by the current leadership of Sahakar Bharati and congratulated them for erecting a huge network of selfless workers across states. “It is the litmus test of a true leader that he generates leadership qualities among his followers,” Singh said extolling the greatness of Inamdar.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar exhorted NCDC and Sahakar Bharati for igniting the co-operative movement in the northern part of India. Citing statistics he said while it is strong in Maharashtra, Gujarat and southern states it is not so in the north.

On this occasion NCDC MD Sandeep Naik presented Sahakar 22 –an ambitious project to cover 222 districts in the country on the lines of PM’s vision of doubling farmers’ income by 2022.

Uday Joshi compered the event and also proposed a vote of thanks. Satish Marathe, the patron of Sahakar Bharati was active tying up loose ends during the proceedings.
