Starting a healthy practice Bihar Cooperative Minister Rana Randhir Singh recently called a meeting of the newly elected Chairmen of District Central Cooperative Banks at the Chief Minister Secretariat, Patna.
There are 22 District Central Cooperative Banks in Bihar and all the DCCBs except Aurangabad went to the polls on 18th January.
The delegation comprised 19 representative of DCCBs such as Bihar State Cooperative Bank Chairman Ramesh Chaubey, Arrah District Central Cooperative Bank Chairman Satyendra Naryana Singh, Muzaffarpur DCCB Chairman Amarnath Pandey, Gopal Ganj DCCB Chairman Mahesh Rai and others.
The DCCBs Chairmen highlighted several issues before the minister including a shortage of staff in District Central Cooperative Banks, PACCS societies not paying back their loans and problems associated with paddy procurement.
The minister gave them a patient hearing and instructed State Registrar Narendra Pratap Mandal to resolve these problems sooner than later. The meeting lasted one hour.
Rana Randhir advocated for a training of Chairmen and board members of DCCBs in order to provide them with a professional approach. Discussions were held about how to increase the deposit base and how to decrease the NPAs of these banks.
Randhir said the cooperative movement has to reach out to the last man of the state and sought everybody’s help in making it a huge success.
Earlier talking to Indian Cooperative Rana Randhir had said “I seek everybody’s cooperation and my sole aim is to improve the lot of farmers of the state. They are victims of years of neglect and we must act to help them.
Meanwhile, soon after the meeting Rana Randhir also shared the details with photographs through social media and wrote “Today met the newly elected chairman of District Central Cooperative Banks of Bihar”.
In Bihar, there are 22 District Central Cooperative Banks DCCBs with around 301 branches. More than 5 lakh farmers are associated with these banks in one way or the other.
