About 219 fishermen of Manipur were the lucky ones whose premium was paid to Life Insurance Company at a conference held on the occasion of AGM in its headquarters. Fishcopfed has collected premium from them earlier, under an ambitious plan aimed at covering the fishermen in the entire country.

FISHCOPFED- the apex body of fishery cooperatives gave a cheque of Rs 36,135 as a premium on this occasion. The cheque was handed over to Ashok Suoorneedi, Regional Manager (Government Scheme), LIC by FISCOPFED Chairman T.Prasad Dora, MD B.K.Mishra, Vice Chairman and other members in Delhi.

Of the premium amount of Rs 342 under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana (PMJJY), 50 percent subsidy was given by the Central Government and an amount of Rs 175 was paid by 219 fishermen of Manipur. It is the first premium cheque disbursed by the apex body, says its MD to this correspondent.

Regional Manager, Ashok Suoorneddi, LIC also shared the dais among others and discussed various aspects of the scheme. Many delegates vented out their views and feelings on the occasion.

The scheme can be a game changer for Fishcopfed in the coming years if it is successfully implemented.

All claims will be settled on time, said B.K.Mishra to this correspondent.
