The delegation from Delhi Urban Cooperative Banks Federation comprising of several chairmen and CEOs of Urban Cooperative Banks of the Capital region recently met the newly appointed Cooperative Minister of Delhi Government Rajendra Pal Gautam in New Delhi to discuss the challenges facing cooperative banks.

Till the time Rajendra Pal Gautam took over, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was overseeing the cooperative department.

Talking to Indian Cooperative the minister said “Several top officials of Delhi Urban cooperative banks met me and highlighted the issues related to coop banks. I assured them to address their issues soon.”

“One of the delegation members leveled charges of corruption at Registrar of cooperative societies and I told them a strict action would be taken against all those involved in corruption”, the minister said.

It bears recall that after taking the charge, the minister had paid a surprise visit to RCS office and found the necessary staff lacking.

“We are trying our best to remove corruption from Cooperative Societies and told the 20 member delegation to support our efforts in strengthening the cooperative movement. I sought their views in writing”, the minister said to this correspondent.

When queried about awareness among the common people of the cooperative movement, he said there is a need to spread public awareness with the help of media. He would do his best to rise to the expectations of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, he claimed.
