The Vice-Chairman of The Cosmos Co-operative Bank Ltd., Madhukar Waman Atre, passed away this Tuesday in Pune at a private hospital following a brief illness. He was 77.
He was cremated at Vaikuntha Crematorium in the afternoon. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren.
Condolences were offered by Cosmos Bank Chairman – CA Milind Kale, Group Chairman – Dr. Mukund Abhyankar, Senior Director – Krishnakumar Goyal, Directors of the Board and Managing Director – Suhas Gokhale.
Chairman Kale informed that Condolence Meeting will be held on behalf of Cosmos Bank on Saturday, 22nd July at 5.30 pm at Cosmos Tower, the Bank’s Corporate Office at University Road.
Born in Pune on 16 July 1940, Madhukar Atre was an Architect by profession. He was elected to the Board of Directors of Cosmos Bank in 1978-79. He was Vice-Chairman of the Bank during 1979-80 and worked as Chairman of Cosmos Bank during 1980-81, 1995-96 and 2003-04. He was part of the Board of Directors for continuous 39 years. His role in the development and progress of Cosmos Bank is invaluable.
