Cooperators small or big are hovering around Agriculture Ministry to get a birth in the NCCT Committee which is likely to be reconstituted in the near future. Union state Minister Purshottam Rupala is said to be the man who is drawing the crowd of cooperators.
NCCT Committee has about 21 members with NCUI President acting as its Chairman. Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary of Ministry, MD NCDC, Chairman NDDB and several others are on this committee which was last constituted in May 2014.
The tenure of committee is already over and the BJP dispensation would like to fill this up this time with its own nominees. Jaya Arunachalam of WWF was one of the members in the old board which is likely to be reconstituted.
As the grant to NCCT from the govt has dwindled, several cooperators connected to NCUI feel that the govt should not have any say in its reconstitution and it should be left to the NCUI. According to a report the NCUI President has also written a letter to the ministry to this effect.
Cooperators argue that the govt grant to NCCT is limited to its projects in the north-east and Vamnicom. In other matters, the apex cooperative body NCUI should have a final say.
