Sahakar Bharati President Jyotindra Mehta air dashed to Jharkhand to take part in the state convention of the organization in Jamshedpur on Sunday. Several cooperators including the cooperation minister of the Jharkhand Mr Randhir Singh participated in the two-day convention.
It bears recall that Jharkhand has the weakest cooperative movement in the country, as revealed in a study done by the apex cooperative body NCUI recently. Maharashtra was adjudged a state having the most robust movement.
Updating his status on Face book, a media-shy Mehta wrote” Sahakar Bharati Jharkhand Pradesh Adhivation at Tatanagar on 11th of Jun. 2nd Pradesh Adhivetion. Sahakarita Mantri Inaugurated. Overwhelming response from sector.”
Though it was not clear as to how far the convention helped in igniting a cooperative movement in the state, the Minister Mr Randhir Singh was full of praise for Sahakar Bharati and expressed confidence that in the days to come the state govt will partner with Sahakar Bharati to improve the lot of women in the state. “Sahakar Bharati has already knit women of the state in self-help groups and is coaching them into taking a plunge into profitable economic activities”, the Minister added.
Speaking on the occasion Jyotindra Mehta said Sahakar Bharati is always ready to lend a helping hand to the state functionaries. Together we would make a strong Jharkhand, he reiterated. Mehta also said by organizing training and education the people of the state would be introduced to the powerful tool of development which is cooperative.
The state has a huge potential for the growth of cooperatives and Sahakar Bharati would first begin with women and the downtrodden, Mehta underlined.
S K Behra, social activist cum industrialist remembered Laxman Rao Inamdar on the occasion and said a vision conceived by him is fructifying in the whole of the country.
Sahakar Bharati leaders also resolved to hold the next national convention of Sahakar Bharati in Deogarh.
