If Dileep Sanghani went to meet Prime Minister to say thanks, the duo of Chandra Pal Singh Yadav and Sunil Singh rushed to meet the Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh to express their gratitude for the government’s continued support to Nafed.
It bears recall that the Nafed Board passed a resolution thanking the Central govt for helping Nafed earn a profit as service charge for procuring food-grains. The story was titled” NAFED registers profit; Board thanks Modi”.
NCUI President who in an exclusive interview to Indian Cooperative had earlier sounded confident of the govt support to Nafed is believed to have thanked the Minister for his unstinted support. Later talking to Indian Cooperative Biscomaun Chairman who accompanied him said” Radha Mohan Babu is keen to restore Nafed to its old glory.”
Radha Mohan is said to have found out about the progress of getting no-objection certificates from various banks
Nafed had taken loans from during the tie-up business loss. “Chandra Palji informed him that all the banks have written in the favour of Nafed; at this the minister assured us of all help”, Sunil said giving details of the meeting.
Lauding Chandra Pal for furthering the cause of cooperatives in the country Sunil said he is our leader and under his guidance the movement is growing. “Please make no mistake I am as close to Chandra Pal ji as with Radha Mohanji”, he said perhaps trying to mask embarrassment in the wake of his inclusion in the Vamnicom Board and Chandra Pal’s exclusion from the same.
It bears recall that cooperators are angry in the wake of the Agricultural Ministry’s decision to do away with the role of NCUI Chairman in the affairs of Vamnicom-the leading Institute of Cooperative Education and Training in the country.
NCUI is protesting the move said some of the cooperators to Indian Cooperative on condition of anonymity. The newly reconstituted Management Committee of Vamnicom has about eleven members with the Additional Secretary nominated as the Chairman-a position earlier held by NCUI President. There are about eleven members with inclusion of Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh in the list- a complete surprise and all due to the Minister’s personal liking for Sunil Singh, said a cooperator.
