Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh launched a mobile app of Nafed aimed at benefitting not only the farmers but also the traders at CSOI club in New Delhi on Friday. Developed by the agri cooperative the mobile app gives precise information about the food-stocks of Nafed stored at various locations.
Singh was accompanied by his Junior Minister Parshottam Rupala as well as by several officials of Agricultural Ministry which included the Central Registrar Ashish Bhutani. In the absence of the Nafed Chairman, the two vice-chairmen of Nafed Dileepbhai Sanghani and Sunil Singh along with notable cooperators such as Bijender Singh, Ashok Thakur and others held the fort.
Nafed also launched sachet tea bags in five new flavor on this occasion- a business it has been doing for the past 15 years in rural areas. “But given the preference of urban customers, we decided to have them in sachets”, said S K Singh who has been recently promoted to Additional MD of Nafed.
Elaborating on the importance of Nafed’s mob apps Singh said it would give information regarding quantity of our
stocks, its locations and where buying is being undertaken by the agri-cooperative. It will help farmers as well as traders, Singh underlined.
Explaining further Biscomaun Chairman who is also vice-chairman of Nafed Sunil Singh explained “Nafed does business through NCDX portal; this app would not only bring in transparency but also competition as the information would be widely disseminated.”
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh lauded slow but steady recovery being witnessed at Nafed in recent times. He appreciated its growing turnover and congratulated it for doing good business in procurement of pulses.
Singh also called upon the youth to participate in cooperatives and said efforts by just a few to direct and control cooperatives must stop. He said cooperatives have potential of igniting revolution in the field of food grains as Amul did in the case of milk.
