The Coordination Committee formed to oversee the preparations for ICA-AP Regional Assembly met last Friday at NCUI’s headquarters to stitch the final loopholes for the upcoming event scheduled in November roughly after a fortnight.
The meeting was presided over by NCUI President Chandra Pal Singh Yadav and Balu Aiyer, the Regional Director of ICA A-P was also present. More than 20 participants in the meeting included N Satyanarayan, Tarun Bhargava, Mohan Mishra and others.
Dr G N Saxena held as an expert on international cooperative matters and made a member of the Coordination Committee on the instance of Chandra Pal was conspicuous by his absence.
This was the final meeting of the Coordination Committee in which the picture of the upcoming event was almost clear. Radha Mohan is perhaps going to be the Chief Guest as VVIPs like Prime Minister, President, Vice President and Union Finance Minister have no time for the international cooperative event being hosted by India.
Indian Cooperative has reliably learnt that the last minute efforts by the NCUI President to rope in Arun Jaitley or even Amit Shah seem to have failed to elicited a firm yes.“I will see if I have time in the evening’, is said to be Jaitley’s response.
Meanwhile, Ashoka Hotel is being readied to host the functions. Two halls of varying capacity have been booked for the function. On 15th November there is Regional Board, Committee Meetings, Workshop on University/Campus Cooperatives, CICOPA Workshop & Women Forum and Research Conference and on 16th November there would be Committee Meetings and Women’s Forum meeting.
Again on 17th November there would be Joint Opening of the 12th Regional Assembly & the 9th Cooperative Forum followed by cultural evening and welcome dinner. On 18th November there would be the 12th ICA-AP Regional Assembly, Valedictory and Farewell dinner. Delegates would visit a few selected cooperatives and later a trip to Taj Mahal in Agra on 19th November.
More than 500 cooperators are expected to participate in the event. NCUI sources say the number of foreign delegates could be 250. Besides the five-star facilities being offered to guests, Chandra Pal aims to take care of them with a unique personal touch for which Indians are famous. He was also appreciative of the support being offered by fellow cooperators to make it a huge success.
