Breaking free from the ongoing political drama unfolding minute by minute in Lucknow, NCUI President Chandrapal Singh Yadav attended a Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Being a senior functionary of Samajwadi Party Chandra Pal had been camping in Lucknow amidst a power tussle being witnessed in the two camps led by Chacha Shiv Pal and bhatija Akhilesh.

In Delhi, however Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh chaired the meeting of the Consultative Committee on Self Sufficiency in Pulses and Oilseeds. He informed that ICAR is working on a two-pronged approach of productivity enhancement and increasing production through area expansion for meeting the shortage of pulses.

All the junior ministers Purshottam Rupala, S.S. Ahluwalia and Sudarshan Bhagat along with MPs including Chandrapal Singh Yadav and others participated.

As regards oilseeds the Minister said that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is having research programmes for nine annual oilseeds crops at four commodity based research institutes.

Members cutting across party lines complimented the Minister for the new thrust on farmers’ welfare and the steps being taken by the NDA government to increase agricultural production especially in pulses and oilseeds, claimed govt media.
