The Cooperative department would beef security in all 131 Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Societies (PACCS), up with CCTV cameras in Thoruvalur district, reports Hindu.
The move follows robbers targeting PACCS in collusion with the Secretary of the society at Thoruvalur.
Earlier the local police had urged the cooperative authorities to streamline safety measures in the cooperative bodies.
A source says the credit societies have already introduced a number of fool-proof measures to arrest frauds when farmers pledged jewels for getting farm loans.
