When Indian Cooperative reported pending vacancies in NCUI, the President of the apex body Chandra Pal Singh Yadav said” we are ready for elections.” It is a direct fallout from the news report carried out in these columns.
Talking to Indian Cooperative Chandra Pal said” what is the hitch; we believe in democracy and we are ready to hold elections whenever a vacancy crops up. In this case also I have asked the Chief Executive to go ahead with the preparations”, Yadav added.

Earlier, a demand for elections to the vacant positions on the Board of the apex national cooperative body NCUI was voiced by several cooperators. Ashok Dabas who sees in the given scenario a golden chance to be in the GC has written letters both to NCUI and Central Registrar.
One of the vacancies was created in the wake of quashing of the candidature of Gurpratap Singh Khushalpur – a delegate from Punjab State Cooperative Labour and Construction Federation Ltd (Labourfed) Chandigarh.
Registrar of Cooperative Societies of Punjab first superceded the Board of Labourfed and later when the elections took place in January 2016 Khushalpur failed to get elected. It was Kushalkar who had defeated Ashok Dabas from Labour cooperatives.
Another seat lying vacant is from the category of State Cooperative Unions as none was elected from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Orissa. The seat has been lying vacant since March 2015 and a demand for election to the seat is growing among cooperators. Lakhan Lal Sahu who hailed from Chhatisgarh had his nomination papers rejected on the ground of ineligibility. Sahu was in the GC earlier.

You prepare a wrong Voters List by including ineligible Voters ( more than half of the voters those who were ineligible were included at the behest of certain people — the findings of the Arbitrator is ample Proof) and then you say you have defeated the person, who could not have been Vanquished otherwise is a mockery of democracy ….
If you want that the Cooperative should continue to serve the public, Just don’t crush DEMOCRACY by use of unfair means …
