Haryana State Federation of Consumers’ Cooperative Wholesale Stores (Confed) a fifty years old cooperative organization responsible for purchasing farmers’ produce and helping authorities in the implementation of the targeted public distribution system would soon cease to exist , reports Tribune.
The Khattar Government has decided to close down the federation in view of its huge losses and operational difficulties.
Following globalization Confed faced tough competition in consumer business from private players and as a result of it it was in a bad way. Under the circumstances, the govt has felt forced to close it down.
