Root out the black sheep: IFFCO AGM

The IFFCO AGM passed off peacefully on 16th May with the General Body ratifying the amendments in the by-laws of cooperative giant. The demand to do away with duel membership was raised in the last AGM too but this time it was given added sanctity by changing the by-laws.

The changed by-laws clearly mentions the name of  KRIBHCO with a vow to root out such societies which are simultaneously members of both IFFCO and  KRIBHCO. It is proposed that such societies are to be identified and shown door as soon as possible.

According to an estimate there are about 70 percent societies which are enjoying duel membership. In earlier times, when Kribhco had emerged from the womb of IFFCO, it was customary for a society to be member of both. But over the years, relation between the brothers worsened leading to acrimony and bad blood.

Member societies would indeed fight it hard to say good bye to either as the both the cooperatives are doing good for them. If IFFCO excites members with its dividends and incentives, KRIBHCO’s prospect is also not depressing.

Apart from this, Monday AGM of IFFCO was dedicated to paying tributes to departed soul of Iffco’s former Chairman, Surender Jakhar. Readers may be aware that he lost his life in an accidental fire   some months back in his home town Abohar.
