Globally acclaimed economist and writer Joseph Stiglitz is one of the keynote speakers announced for the International Summit of Cooperatives. A university Professor at Columbia University, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2001. At the Summit he will talk about the impact of the financial and economic crisis on inequality and the potential responses to the widening gap between rich and poor.
The Summit will also feature presentations from Mark Kramer and Robert Reich. A Senior Fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, Mr Kramer is co-founder and managing director of Foundation Strategy Group (FSG), a consulting firm advising businesses on how to adapt to social change. In his speech at the Summit he will look at how creating value for society overall promotes growth in a sustainable manner.
Robert Reich is Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley. He has served as Secretary of Labor under President Bill Clinton and on President Barack Obama’s economic transition advisory board. He will engage Summit delegates in a discussion on the global economic and political system to create greater equality in the distribution of incomes.
