Cooperative training college in Chhattisgarh, District Cooperative Central Banks, branch managers, supervisors and society managers participated in a three-day workshop organized by the Apex Bank president Ashok Bajaj.
Bajaj advocated a strong financial position of cooperative banks so as to provide farmers with crop loans and greater financial assistance. Mr. Bajaj said ” only 45 percent of the total agricultural credit will be provided by NABARD, the balance we have to increase ourselves” he said.
Mr Bajaj called for getting more and more farmers and non-farmers to boost their deposits in cooperative banks. Mr. Bajaj said NABARD plans to cover everyone from the banking system to the primary societies.
Apex plans to use new technology to increase the quality of work of cooperative banks. He said one must have the knowledge of the ground staff as well as the new technology to make the cooperative movement successful.
