The two-member committee set up by the state government to look into the alleged fraud in the export of sugar and the export subsidy has issued notices to an official of the Maharashtra State Federation of State Cooperative Sugar Factories Ltd, 16 sugar factories, Exim Corporation and some broking firms in the state. The committee has sought a written reply from them by April-end.
The broking firms have been accused of buying raw sugar from factories at lower than market rates and exporting it at international prices.
