National Labour Cooperative Federation of India (NLCF) has reduced its losses in this financial year, informed Chairman of the apex cooperative body Mr Sanjeev Kushalkar in the Annual General Meeting held last week in Delhi at its Sarita Vihar headquarters.
“We have diversified and entered into new sectors of labour and services thereby opening up a great future”, added Kushalkar.
This year the loss was contained at Rs 11 lakh. For the past 2-3 years we had been suffering a loss of about Rs 40 lakh, said Mr R N Pandey Managing Director of the ailing cooperative.
“We received a grant of about Rs 20 lakh from the Union government and we made economies such as outsourcing to make the outfit viable”, Pandey averred.
Informed sources say the NLCF has ventured into security services by tying up with a Lucknow security entity by according it a nominal membership.
It has also amended its bye-laws in this AGM to do participate into Prime Minister’s “Swachch Bharat Abhiyan”. We had an offer from NTPC Mirzapur and that is what goaded us to go in for amendment in byelaws. The entire general body was optimistic and gave the go ahead, said the MD.
The state and several district chapters of the NLCF are doing quite well with the Maharashtra and Pune units leading the pack. Kushalkar is heading both and has made these units profitable. That the govt is encouraging the labour cooperative by giving them preference in construction works underscores the NLCF’s ability to initiate things , Kushalkar had said in the past.
Readers would note that one of NFCL members Urangal is based in Kozhikode in Kerala and its constructions from airport to malls to roads dot the skyline of many districts of the state.
Several top notch cooperators including Ashok Dabas, Ramesh Ramhutt , W Z Tekam and others along with about 90 delegates from across several states participated in the AGM.
